Some people find inspiration in their past, some in their present, some in their significant other, and some in someone they admire or someone they care deeply about. Others might look to their surroundings, to dramatic events or personal accounts by other people. However it may be, I think every writer writes about things they have a personal connection to. George Lucas’ film American Graffiti was inspired by his love for race cars and Tyler Perry’s works have come from his childhood experiences. Tragedies like 9/11 evoke feelings or provide ideas that can lead to powerful motion pictures like United 93 and World Trade Center. Those who cry because they can barely feed their children due to recent hardships make many wonder what they would do if they saw themselves in such situation. Words by an important figure like Martin Luther King Jr. or a history making event like this year’s presidential election can give a sense of hope and a better future. The look on a child’s face, be it of fear or joy, or when you get a look of affection from that special someone. These are all sources of inspiration. My point is, we write what we feel and I think that such honesty is what makes any write up good, relatable and enjoyable. What inspires you?
