Amazon vs. iTunes, Possibly
Posted by Bloddard in September 25th 2007
Amazon.com Inc has released a version of what many hope will become a rival to Apple‘s iTunes. “Amazon MP3“, Amazon’s digital music store will offer songs in the MP3 format without copy protection with prices ranging from 89 to 99 cents. Even though iTunes is the leader, having 70 percent market share of music downloads, this tactic by Amazon will give Apple a run for its money because it will allow the songs to be used on a variety of music players, while iTunes downloads are almost exclusive to the iPod.
